Dear Friends,

Thank you for your interest in our government.

It is a tremendous honor to represent the Dowsett Highlands, Pacific Heights, Pauoa, and Punchbowl communities at the Hawaii State House of Representatives. I will make every effort to address your concerns and deliver important news from the Legislature.

Your input into ways the Legislature conducts our public business is always appreciated. My office is only a call, letter, or e-mail away.

Sincerely,
Sylvia Luke

TOPICS OF INTEREST

  • Time Share Plans; Exemption. Rep. Luke introduced a measure, enacted into law as Act 14, Session Laws of Hawaii (SLH) 2008, that streamlined the registration of time share plans by exempting registered time share plans from the registration requirements of the Uniform Land Sales Practices Act, thereby treating them similarly to registered condominium projects which are also exempt.

  • Post-Partum and Interconception Care. Rep. Luke helped introduce a measure, enacted into law as Act 2, Special SLH 2008, that improves the health and welfare of women between pregnancies by requiring the Department of Human Services to apply to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to amend the State Medicaid plan to extend post-partum and interconception care from eight weeks to a minimum of six months for women under the QUEST program.

  • Pedestrian Safety. Rep. Luke helped introduce a measure, enacted into law as Act 232, SLH 2008, that improves pedestrian safety, especially for elderly persons, by appropriating $1,000,000 for FY 2008-2009 for a pilot study to identify state and county intersections where the time to cross the intersection is insufficient for elderly pedestrians, and to implement immediate improvements to high-risk crosswalks and road crossings.
