Dear Friends,
It is a privilege to represent the people of Mililani and Waipio Gentry at the Hawaii State Legislature. I am currently serving as the Chairman of the Health Committee as well as am sitting on the Committees of Human Services, Hawaiian Affairs, Education, and Higher Education.
I recently completed my service as the legislative representative on the Oahu Metropolitan Planning Organization (OMPO) Policy Committee, which plans Oahu transportation issues. As a part of the OMPO Policy Committee, I was able to direct much attention relating to traffic congestion and transportation development for the island of Oahu to my community of Mililani and Waipio Gentry.
I am also one of the appointed representatives serving on the Hawaii Sustainability Task Force 2050 to help create a sustainable Hawaii. In 2008, I had the opportunity to be a Legislator in Residence at the University of Hawaii at Manoa to direct policy to prepare Hawaii for a sustainable future.
Mahalo for all of your support and your interest in the legislative process; this website has been created to provide you with resources in learning about this process and we would be happy to assist you at any time. My staff and I are dedicated to working hard in order to serve you this year. Please feel free to contact us and thank you for your continued support!
Aloha,
Ryan Yamane
State Representative

TOPICS OF INTEREST
- Hawaii 2050 Sustainability Task Force. I am committed to continue planning for Hawaii's future in the areas of housing, workforce development, energy, public infrastructure, education, population growth, and sustainability of natural resources.
- Emergency Medical Services. With the increasing population in our area, and our dependence on the Military's availability to provide medi-vacs, there is a constant need to provide additional support to Oahu's Emergency Medical Services.
- State Fire Council. Our local firefighters need continuous recognition for the courage and bravery they display in their daily lives. It is important that we assist them by supporting legislation and issues that can save the lives of everyone and reduce fire hazards.
- Sex Crime Statute of Limitations. I was shocked to learn that victims of child sex abuse only have until the age of 24 to report such horrendous crimes to the police. Previous legislation would have increased the amount of time to 10 years after the age of 18 to allow victims to report sexual offenses against them. However, the measure failed to gain the Senate's support in 2006. I encourage any future legislation to provide more assistance to sex abuse victims.
