Statutes, thereby entitling the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to
public land trust proceeds pursuant to Section 10-13.5, Hawaii

                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

Relating to Public Land Trust. 



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Section 10-13.3, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is
 
 2 amended to read as follows:
 
 3      �10-13.3  Interim revenue.  Notwithstanding the definition
 
 4 of revenue contained in this chapter and the provisions of
 
 5 section 10-13.5, and notwithstanding any claimed invalidity of
 
 6 Act 304, Session Laws of Hawaii 1990, the income and proceeds
 
 7 from the pro rata portion of the public land trust under article
 
 8 XII, section 6 of the state constitution for expenditure by the
 
 9 office of Hawaiian affairs for the betterment of the conditions
 
10 of native Hawaiians for each of fiscal year 1997-1998 and fiscal
 
11 year 1998-1999 shall be $15,100,000.  This statute shall
 
12 automatically sunset at the end of the 1999 fiscal year thereby
 
13 reactivating the provisions of section 10-13.5.  
 
14      SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.
 
15      SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
