Sir:

     Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred S.B. No.
1026 entitled: 

     "A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE TRAINING OF EMERGENCY
     MEDICAL SERVICES PERSONNEL,"

begs leave to report as follows:

     The purpose of this bill is to authorize the Department of
Health to approve the curricula and syllabi of courses for
emergency medical services personnel.

     The Department of Health, the University of Hawaii Community
Colleges, and the Hawaii Nurses' Association testified in support
of this bill.  The Board of Medical Examiners commented on this
bill.

     Your Committee has amended this bill by making technical,
nonsubstantive changes for consistency.

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your
Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No.
1026, as amended herein, and recommends that it pass Third
Reading in the form attached hereto as S.B. No. 1026, H.D. 1.
