S.B. 34 MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO MATCH FEDERAL    ECD, WAM
       FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF MANUFACTURING
       EXTENSION PROGRAMS
       Appropriates funds to match federal funds for
       manufacturing extension programs.

S.B. 48 RELATING TO TAXATION                        ECD, WAM
       Establishes an income tax credit for creating hotel
       rooms.

S.B. 570  RELATING TO THE WAIANAE COAST COMMUNITY     ECD, WAM
       BENCHMARKING PILOT PROJECT AND APPROPRIATING
       FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE PROJECT
       Appropriates $350,000 for the Waianae coast community
       benchmarking pilot project and $50,000 to the Hawaii
       Community Services Council for technical support for FY
       1999-2000.  Extends repeal of project 3 years to
       6/30/2003.

S.B. 1072 RELATING TO THE HAWAII CAPITAL LOAN PROGRAM  ECD, WAM

 
       Extends the business loan guarantee program and the
       neighbor island preferential business loan interest
       rate.

S.B. 1081 RELATING TO HAWAII SMALL BUSINESS REGULATORY ECD, WAM
       FLEXIBILITY ACT
       Narrows the definition of small business from those
       businesses with 200 or fewer employees to businesses
       with 50 or fewer employees.

S.B. 1322 RELATING TO TOURISM                         ECD, WAM
       Allows the Convention Center Authority (CCA) to sunset
       on June 30, 1999.  Assigns the responsibility to
       market, operate, manage, and maintain the Hawaii
       convention center facility to the Hawaii Tourism
       Authority.  Transfers the Convention Center Capital and
       Operations Special Funds to the Tourism Special Fund.

S.B. 29 RELATING TO IRRADIATION OF AGRICULTURAL     ECD, WAM
       COMMODITIES
       Requires all agricultural commodities that are
       irradiated to be labeled as such.

S.B. 491  MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR AGRICULTURE     ECD, WAM
       Appropriates funds for tropical flower research.

S.B. 1059 RELATING TO AGRICULTURE                     ECD, WAM
       Encourages private lenders to provide financing for
       diversified ag by reducing risks through the
       department's ability to guarantee loans.  Up to 90% of
       the loan plus interest would be eligible.

S.B. 1062 RELATING TO AGRICULTURAL PARK LEASES        ECD, WAM
       Expands eligibility qualifications for agricultural
       park lease applicants.

S.B. 1078 RELATING TO ALOHA TOWER DEVELOPMENT         ECD, WAM
       CORPORATION
       Removes the restriction placed on the corporation's
       ability to develop Irwin Park and to appropriate money
       to acquire the reversionary interest contained in the
       deed of Helene Irwin Fagan.
