          TAX BENEFITS
          Creates an income tax deduction for an individual
          for payment of long-term care insurance premiums.

          Requires non-profit hospitals and medical service
          organizations that offer long-term care insurance to
          pay assessments to the life and disability insurance
          guaranty association and to pay premium taxes.

          Appropriates funds to establish a long-term care

H.B. 1679    RELATING TO PUBLIC EMPLOYEES          HSH, LAB, FIN
          LONG-TERM
          Makes participation in long-term care benefits plan 
          for public employees mandatory and funded entirely 
          by contributions by the Health Fund.  (Arakaki)

H.B. 1370    RELATING TO THE CONVEYANCE TAX        HSH
          Increases conveyance tax from $.10 to $.20 per $100
          and redistribites revenues to include 10% to
          homeless shelters, and 20% to bureau of conveyances 
          for two years.  (Arakaki)

H.B. 1371    RELATING TO HOMELESS SHELTERS         HSH, TRN, FIN
          Appropriates $100,000 in FY 199-2000 to the DHS
          to establish a temporary homeless shelter
          demonstration project at the Honolulu International
          Airport, including hiring a project manager.

          PROGRAMS AND SERVICES FOR HAWAII'S 
          LOW-INCOME POPULATION
          Appropriates funds for a facility to provide
          programs and services to low-income individuals and
          families.  (Say)

H.B. 1121    RELATING TO THE SUNSET CLAUSE IN      HSH, JHA, FIN
          ACT 128, SESSION LAWS OF HAWAII
          Allows the state to continue to "opt out" from
          federal benefits prohibitions to ensure the 
          continued availability of treatment program. (Say)

H.B. 1125    RELATING TO RECOVERY OF MEDICAL       HSH, JHA, FIN
          PAYMENTS
          Clarifies and standardizes the provisions regarding
          the reimbursement rights of the Department of Human
          Services in third-party liability situations.  (Say)
