SB 1050    RELATING TO THE CHILD PROTECTIVE ACT          HHS, JDC
SD1        Proposes changes to bring Hawaii into compliance with
        the federal AFSA, which seeks to expedite permanency
        for children in foster care.

SB 176     RELATING TO CHILDREN                          HHS, JDC
        Toughens Hawaii's criminal laws for perpetrators of
        child abuse.

SB 995     RELATING TO ELDERLY AND DEPENDENT ADULTS  HHS/LRE, JDC
SD1        Allows dependent adults or their guardians to obtain
        information on a person's criminal record or confirmed
        cases of abuse; requires police and adult protective
        service workers to report to each other on abuse
        complaints.

SB 1048    RELATING TO FOSTER BOARDING HOMES             HHS, JDC
SD1        Changes the need for a criminal history record check
        from one year to every year for the first two years
        and biennially thereafter for foster homes.

SB 631     RELATING TO POLITICAL PARTIES                      JDC
        Amends the elections law to make it easier for a
        political party to qualify and operate in Hawaii.

SB 1485    RELATING TO MINORS                                 JDC
        Permits administrative judge of the family court to
        order expungement of records of minor is who is not
        adjudicated as a law violator.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 25 copies of their
testimony to the committee clerk, Room 227, State Capitol, 24
hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less
than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at
586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at
least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please
indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and
time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for
submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services
to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior
to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the
measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for
shared use by members of the public.
