 HB 1071 RELATING TO THE INSURANCE CODE                LAB, CPC
      To amend the provisions governing the employees of the
      Insurance Division.

HB 1582  RELATING TO PROCUREMENT                       LAB, FIN
      Authorizes a procurement officer to use project labor
      agreements to advance the State's procurement interest
      in cost, efficiency, quality, labor-stability, and
      compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
      Repealed 6/30/04.

HB 1281  RELATING TO PROCUREMENT                       LAB, FIN
      Authorizes a procurement officer to use project labor
      agreements to advance the State's procurement interest
      in cost, efficiency, quality, labor-stability, and
      compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
      Repealed 6/30/04.

HB 848   RELATING TO SUBSTANCE ABUSE TESTING           LAB, FIN
      Provides for the use of substance abuse on-site
      screening tests (i.e., portable substance abuse tests)
      that meet the requirements of the United States Food and
      Drug Administration for commercial distribution.

 
HB 486   RELATING TO BREASTFEEDING                     LAB, JHA
      Promotes the practice of breastfeeding in public
      accommodations and places of work.

HB 958   RELATING PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT                    LAB, FIN
      Provides that severely handicapped persons, certified
      for positions in public service, can transfer from one
      position to another provided the new position requires
      functions that the person is capable of performing.

HB 145   RELATING TO RETIREMENT BENEFITS               LAB, FIN
      Eliminates overtime compensation from the calculation of
      retirement benefits for all employees after 6/30/99.
      Clarifies that for purposes of determining the amount of
      a member's contribution to the annuity savings fund, a
      member's compensation does not include payments for
      overtime. 

HB 517   RELATING TO SELECTIVE SERVICE                 LAB, FIN
      Provides that no person who is required to register with
      the Selective Service System shall be eligible for state
      or county employment without appropriate written
      documentation.

HB 518   RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION             LAB, HED, FIN
      Mandates those required to register with the selective
      service system to do so in order to be eligible for
      admission into any public institution of higher
      education.

HB 522   RELATING TO THE SCHOOL-TO-WORK PROGRAM   LAB, EDN, FIN
      Transfers the administration and supervision of the
      school-to-work opportunities pilot project from the
      Hawaii school-to-work opportunities executive council to
      the DOE.  Makes the Hawaii school-to-work opportunities
      executive council an advisory body to the BOE.

HB 934   RELATING TO STATE CONTRACTS                   LAB, FIN
      Provides that first preference will be given to
      unionized contractor bids when using in-state
      contractors for printing, binding, and stationery work.

HB 134   RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION             LAB,JHA
      Disallows compensation for physical or mental injury
      resulting from a disciplinary or other personnel action
      taken in good faith by the employer.
