                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO THE JUDICIARY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Section 706-647, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is
 
 2 amended by amending subsection (1) to read as follows:
 
 3      "(1)  A certified or exemplified copy of an order of any
 
 4 court of this State for payment of a fine or restitution pursuant
 
 5 to section 706-605 may be filed in the office of the clerk of an
 
 6 appropriate court of this State as a special proceeding without
 
 7 the assessment of a filing fee or surcharge.  The order, whether
 
 8 as an independent order, as part of a judgment and sentence, or
 
 9 as a condition of probation or deferred plea, shall be
 
10 enforceable in the same manner as a civil judgment."
 
11      SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.
 
12      SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2000.
