                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Section 305-4, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is
 
 2 amended to read as follows:
 
 3      "[[]�305-4[]]  Special fund.  [The provisions of section]
 
 4 Section 304-8 notwithstanding there is hereby created a special
 
 5 fund to receive, disburse, and account for funds of special
 
 6 programs and activities of the community colleges, including but
 
 7 not limited to off-campus programs, summer session programs,
 
 8 overseas programs, evening sessions, study abroad, exchange
 
 9 programs, cultural enrichment programs, and consultative services
 
10 which help make available the resources of the community colleges
 
11 to the communities they serve.
 
12      The community colleges may:
 
13      (1)  Deposit, disburse, and account for their special fund
 
14           as follows:
 
15           (A)  Into the tuition and fees special fund authorized
 
16                in section 304-16.5;
 
17           (B)  In addition to the tuition, fees, and charges for
 
18                credit courses, the community colleges may also
 
19                deposit, disburse, and account for the tuition,

 1                fees, and charges for affiliated instructional,
 
 2                training, and public service courses and programs;
 
 3                and
 
 4      (2)  Deposit, disburse, and account for fees and charges in
 
 5           a general activities special fund the receipt of funds
 
 6           from the following sources:  student health, transcript
 
 7           and diploma, library, facilities use, child care,
 
 8           auxiliary enterprises, alumni and other related
 
 9           activities."
 
10      SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed.
 
11 New statutory material is underscored.
 
12      SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2000.
