The Committee previously held public hearings on Senate bills
that are substantially similar to House bills as noted.  Please
focus your testimony on the difference, if any, between the House
and Senate measures identified below.

HB 1780 HD1      RELATING TO THE CONVENTION CENTER  ECD, WAM
(Sim. to   Repeals the sunset date of the Convention Center
SB 2006)   Authority (CCA).  Changes the deadline for the auditor
        to audit and monitor the progress made by CCA in
        resolving various outstanding issues and problems to
        assure the legislature.

HB 2793 HD1      RELATING TO AGRICULTURE           ECD, WAM
        Carries over to fiscal year 2000-2001, any unexpended
        or unencumbered funds at the close of fiscal year
        1999-2000, for expenses incurred in the performance of
        the duties of the agribusiness development corporation
        board.  Allows the use of such funds for grants for
        the development of an agricultural subdivision in the
        Hamakua district on the island of Hawaii.

HB 1946 HD2      RELATING TO ENERGY CONSERVATION   ECD, WAM
(Sim. to   Requires all state agencies to retrofit buildings to
SB 2422)   save energy.  Provides that all cost savings from
        retrofits shall be returned to the retrofitting
        agency.

HB 2964 HD1      RELATING TO COMMUNITY-BASED ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT      ECD, WAM
(Sim. to   Appropriates funds for community-based economic

        DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS.
