HB 2249    RELATING TO HEALTH CARE.                  HLT/HSH, JHA
        Makes it a Class C felony to intimidate a health 
        care worker. (Lee)

FOR HLT ONLY
HB 2525    RELATING TO PRESCRIPTION DRUGS.               HLT, CPC
        To liberalize regulatory controls and restrictions
        on the distribution of medical oxygen and the
        dispensing of prescription drug (non-controlled 
        substance drugs). (Say, B/R)

HB 2488    RELATING TO RETURN OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS.     HLT, CPC
        To allow long term care facilities or supervised
        living groups to return prescription drugs previously
        dispensed or distributed by a pharmacist to be 
        redispensed or redistributed by the pharmicist.

HB 2279    RELATING TO HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS.        HLT, CPC
        Requires new legislation being considered for 
        enactment that seeks to change the scope of practice
        of a health care professional to be referred to a 
        review panel within the dept. of commerce and consumer
        affairs for analysis.  Specifies legislative policies
        and defines "health care professional." (Santiago)

HB 2486    RELATING TO CHIROPRACTIC LICENSURE            HLT, CPC
        REQUIREMENTS.
        To require the National Board of Chiropractic 
        Examiners (NBCE) part IV examination in place of the 
        state-constructed Chiropractic Licensure Examination
        (CLE); to authorize the Board of Chiropractic
        Examiners (hereafter "Board") to require the NBCE 
        Special Purpose Examination for Chiropractic (SPEC), 
        also in place of the CLE, for issues within the
        Board's area of responsibility, including, but not 
        limited to, licensure by endorsement or reciprocity,
        and to assess competency following disciplinary 
        actions or licensure lapse; suspension, or revocation;
        to delete outdated educational requirements; and to
        amend current language for the purpose of
        clarification. (Say, B/R)

HB 1934    RELATING TO OPTOMETRY.                        HLT, CPC
        Repeals the joint formulary advisory committee and
        removes reference to "topically applied"
        pharmaceutical agents. (Menor)

HB 2463    RELATING TO ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED      HLT, CPC
        NURSES RECOGNITION.
        To require applicants for advanced practice registered
        nurse (APRN) recognition to have an unencumbered APRN
        recognition or similar designation in all other
        states in which the nurse has a current and active
        recognition as an APRN; to clarify that APRNs who 
        are not recognized by the board may use titles 
        designated by national certifying bodies; and to 
        make non-substantive changes. (Say, B/R)

HB 2464    RELATING TO THE DUTIES OF THE BOARD OF        HLT, CPC
        NURSING.
        To add to current language relating to the duties 
        of the Hawaii board of nursing (board) for the 
        purpose of clarity and consistency to enable the board
        to: consult and confer with persons with expertise 
        on various issues; communicate with national
        organizations with information that would promote
        consumer safety and welfare; administer the nursing

 
 
 
        exams; contract with a professional test vendor; and
        develop rules relating to telehealth as necessary.

HB 2810    MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO HIRE THIRTY        HLT, FIN
        FULL-TIME REGISTERED NURSES WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT
        OF HEALTH.
        Appropriates general revenues to hire 30 full-time 
        registered nurses within the DOH to be assigned to a
        public school, except one unassigned nurse who will
        cover when others are sick or on vacation. (Santiago)
