A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS AND MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS IN THE twenty-seventh REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $6,332,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2001-2002, for the following projects for the twenty-seventh representative district:

1. To be expended by the department of accounting and general services:

A. Kauluwela Elementary School

New cafeteria to comply with the health code.

Design $ 175,000

Construction 2,200,000

Equipment 1,000,000

Total funding $3,375,000

B. Prince David Kawananakoa Middle School

Renovate/refurbish the interior of the thirty-five-year old music building.

Design $ 37,500

Construction 187,500

Total Funding $ 225,000

C. Prince David Kawananakoa Middle School

Redesign and resurface the parking lot to include speed bumps and painting stripes for the bottom half of the parking lot. (Only the top half will be done in the summer of 2000.)

Design $ 18,500

Construction 92,500

Total funding $ 111,000

D. Prince David Kawananakoa Middle School

Build a covered student lanai with security fence to enclose the lanai to increase student eating area and shelter from the rain and provide a place to do homework before school and/or while waiting to be picked up after school.

E. Prince David Kawananakoa Middle School

Replacement and upgrading of electrical lighting and plumbing system for the auditorium.

F. Prince David Kawananakoa Middle School

Develop a landscape master plan for the school.

G. Kauluwela Elementary School

Rebuild or remove outdoor stage for the health and safety of the students and public.

H. Kauluwela Elementary School

Build a covered walkway from Building E to Building S.

Construction 12,000

Total funding $ 15,000

I. Maemae Elementary School

Renovate the cafeteria to build a library on the second floor.

Design $ 80,000

Construction 1,500,000

Equipment 220,000

Total funding $1,800,000

SECTION 2. The sum appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purpose of the Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
