A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO NURSES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Section 457-8.6, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:

"[[]§457-8.6[]] Prescriptive authority for advanced practice registered nurses. The [department of commerce and consumer affairs] board shall grant prescriptive authority to qualified advanced practice registered nurses[; provided that the board of medical examiners] and shall designate the requirements for advanced nursing practice related to prescriptive authority and applicable formularies[; provided further that the board of medical examiners shall submit an interim report on the establishment of the formularies by December 31, 1994]. The board shall establish an advisory committee of representatives of the different advanced practice registered nursing specialties, physicians who work with advanced practice registered nurses, pharmacists, and representatives of other appropriate health-related areas to advise the board regarding formulary matters."

SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.
