A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO TEMPORARY HEALTH INSURANCE FOR UNEMPLOYED PERSONS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The purpose of this act is to clarify Act 6, Third Special Session Laws of Hawaii 2001, regarding reimbursement of payments to provide that the expenditure of money appropriated shall be for a specific period of time or when the money runs out.

SECTION 2. Act 6, Third Special Session Laws of Hawaii 2001, section 5, is amended by amending section 5 to read as follows:

"SECTION 5. There is appropriated out of the general funds of the State of Hawaii the sum of $2,000,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002 for the reimbursement of payments made under this Act. Reimbursements shall be made for the period beginning after September 11, 2001 through June 30, 2002 or until such time the money appropriated has been expended, whichever occurs sooner.

The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act."

SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
