S.B. NO.

2947

TWENTY-FIRST LEGISLATURE, 2002

STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR THE PERMANENT RELOCATION OF THE special services section.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the special services section of the department of public safety, including the sexual offender supervision, mental health, and intensive supervision units, should be permanently relocated from Honolulu to Kapolei. The legislature further finds that Kapolei is an ideal location because of its distance from the main population in Honolulu proper.

The purpose of this Act is to make an appropriation to the department of public safety to permanently relocate the special services section of the department of public safety to Kapolei.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $          , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2002-2003, for the permanent relocation of the special services section of the department of public safety, including the sexual offender supervision, mental health, and intensive supervision units, from Honolulu to Kapolei at 601 Kamokila Boulevard.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of public safety for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2002.
