A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR NUUANU falls park.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that Nuuanu Falls Park is a beautiful and unique island treasure that attracts many tourists every year. However, the legislature further finds that Nuuanu Falls Park suffers from deterioration, environmental vulnerability, and possibly hazardous conditions to visitors.

The purpose of this Act is to appropriate moneys for the rehabilitation of the Nuuanu Falls Park into a safe and enjoyable site by addressing the issues of safety and environmental protection and preservation.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, for the rehabilitation and preservation of Nuuanu Falls Park.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of land and natural resources for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
