SENATE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

REQUESTING THE AUDITOR TO CONDUCT A STUDY OF PROPOSED MANDATORY HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR HEARING AID DEVICES AND SERVICES.

 

 

WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 952, is pending in the Regular Session of 2003, and proposes to require health insurance coverage for hearing aids and the services rendered by hearing aid dealers and fitters licensed under chapter 451A, Hawaii Revised Statutes; and

WHEREAS, the Auditor is required by section 23-51, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to prepare and submit a report to the Legislature on any legislative measure that mandates health insurance coverage; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-Second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2003, the House of Representatives concurring, that the Auditor is requested to prepare a report in accordance with sections 23-51 and 23-52, Hawaii Revised Statutes, on whether health insurance coverage should be mandated for hearing aids and the services rendered by hearing aid dealers and fitters licensed under chapter 451A, Hawaii Revised Statutes; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Auditor is requested to submit a report of findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the convening of the Regular Session of 2004; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Auditor.
