RELATING TO HOTEL CONSTRUCTION AND REMODELING TAX CREDIT.

Generally extends the hotel construction and remodeling tax credit to 2008 and adds a definition for "Qualified resort area".

RELATING TO TAX CREDITS.

Requires that persons claiming a hotel construction and renovation tax credit to dedicate ten per cent of the hotel's retail space to the promotion and sale of Hawaii products.

RELATING TO INCOME TAX CREDITS.

Allows income tax credit for qualified commercial construction projects of four percent for projects costs up to $10 million, and ten per cent for project costs exceeding $10 million over a consecutive five-year period.

RELATING TO PROMOTION OF HIGH TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRIES IN HAWAII.

Requires Hawaii tourism authority to allocate a portion of its biennial budget to contract with the Hawaii Technology Trade Association to market and promote high technology industries in Hawaii.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 40 copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 218, State Capitol 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
