A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

making an appropriation for quest and medicaid coverage for aliens residing in hawaii under the compact of free association.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds that were removed from the department of human services' budget for fiscal year 2004-2005, to provide QUEST and medicaid coverage for Compact of Free Association Pacific Islanders, Micronesians, Marshall Islanders, and other aliens residing in Hawaii pursuant to the Compact of Free Association.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $1 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2005-2006 to provide QUEST and medicaid coverage for aged, blind, and disabled aliens residing in Hawaii pursuant to the Compact of Free Association.

The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of human services for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2005.
