A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII school of medicine.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 304, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§304- Medical school. There shall be a campus of the University of Hawaii system to be known as the John A. Burns school of medicine of the University of Hawaii. The school shall be under the direction of a dean or director who shall be appointed by the president with the approval of the board of regents. Subject to the availability of funds, faculty, and facilities, the school shall offer such courses of study as may be deemed appropriate and confer such degrees as may be authorized by the board of regents."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
