A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

relating to correctional industries.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 354D, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§354D-    Housing rehabilitation.  There is established a correctional industries program to allow work lines from the state inmate population to rehabilitate existing state-owned low-income public housing units and grounds.  This work program for inmates is deemed by the legislature to be a matter of concern for the citizens of the State."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
