This joint informational briefing will outline the financial trends of Hawaii’s hospitals, nursing facilities and home care and hospice providers. Specific information on the following will be addressed:

 

1)                   Description of health services in Hawaii;

2)                   Hawaii's hospitals' financial data and payment information;

3)                   Significant costs for Hawaii's hospitals, including wages, medical education, community programs, charity care and bad debt, trauma care, waitlisted patients and prescription drugs;

4)                   Long term care, home care and hospice issues;

5)                   The impact of Medicaid, including DSH payments, the SCHIP Program and Quest expansion;

6)                   Who pays for healthcare in Hawaii?
