A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

relating to cruiseline industry.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The department of business, economic development, and tourism, in conjunction with the department of transportation, department of land and natural resources, department of health, and the Hawaii tourism authority, and with input from the cruiseline industry, shall undertake a cost and benefit analysis of the cruiseline industry in the state.  The cost and benefit analysis shall consider the array of costs and benefits that the cruiseline industry is having upon the:

     (1)  Economic welfare;

     (2)  Physical environment;

     (3)  Historical and cultural assets and practices;

     (4)  Social welfare;

     (5)  Harbor facilities;

     (6)  Safety and security measures;

     (7)  Environment and infrastructure;

     (8)  Fees; and

     (9)  Traffic

of the State as a whole and each individual county.

     SECTION 2.  A cost and benefit analysis report shall be submitted to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2008.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on January 1, 2025.
