RELATING TO PHYSICIAN WORKFORCE ASSESSMENT.

Creates John A. Burns school of medicine special fund.  Assesses $60 fee to obtain or renew physician and osteopathic physician licenses.  Transfers those fees from compliance resolution fund for deposit to the special fund for Hawaii physician workforce assessment and planning.  Appropriates $150,000 in FY 2009-2010 and FY 2010-2011.  Appropriates $5,000 from compliance resolution fund to the special fund in FY 2009-2010 and FY 2010-2011 and requires the special fund to reimburse the compliance resolution fund by 7/1/2010.

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT PROGRAM.

Appropriates matching funds to University of Hawaii school of medicine to train students to become physician assistants within a physician assistant program at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns school of medicine to address the medical needs of underserved communities within the State.

Appropriates funds to support the Hawaii Quentin Burdick rural health interdisciplinary training program.

RELATING TO PHYSICIANS.

Provides loan repayment assistance to graduates of the John A. Burns school of medicine who practice medicine in underserved communities on the neighbor islands for a minimum of three to five years.  Appropriates funds.

·         By Email:  Testimony may be emailed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Committee at [email protected] .  Please indicate the measure, date and time of the hearing. Email sent to individual offices or any other Senate office will not be accepted.
