A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

relating to the hawaii tourism authority.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 201B, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§201B‑     Budget; legislative approval; maximum expenditure limits.  (a)  Notwithstanding sections 26‑35 and 201B‑5, the Hawaii tourism authority shall submit its budget annually to the legislature for approval at least twenty days prior to the convening of each regular session.

     (b)  The authority budget shall include a maximum expenditure limit on programs and activities relating to:

     (1)  Marketing;

     (2)  Product development; and

     (3)  Administration.

Upon approval of the authority budget by the legislature, the authority may adjust actual annual expenditures within each of the three operational categories listed in paragraphs (1), (2), and (3), but actual annual expenditures within each of the operational categories may not exceed the respective maximum expenditure limit for each operational category approved by the legislature."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
