HOUSE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING AND HONORING THE HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE IN CELEBRATION OF ITS 5OTH ANNIVERSARY.

WHEREAS, as one of Hawaii's most viable industries, tourism generated $11.4 billion for our local economy and about 150,000 jobs for our residents in 2010; and

WHEREAS, it is important to honor those businesses that enhance the experiences of visitors to our islands while respecting Hawaii's host culture and values; and

WHEREAS, constructed by Henry J. Kaiser in 1955 and opening in 1961, the HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE is a self-contained destination resort that occupies the widest stretch of Waikiki Beach and offers exciting entertainment via their weekly fireworks show and live music by The Rockin’ Hawaiian Rainbow Revue as well as luxurious amenities—such as a beachfront lagoon, several waterfalls and pools, including Waikiki's largest pool; lush gardens and exotic wildlife; and over 90 shopping, dining, and lounging destinations—that distinguish it from other resorts in the State; and

WHEREAS, the HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE recently earned its place in the top 10 list of Best Family Beach Resorts based on its activity offerings and family-friendly accommodations, being the only Hawaii beach resort to have recently received this honor; and

WHEREAS, the iconic HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE—which has been a legendary filming location for a myriad of shows, such as "Hawaiian Eye", "Hawaii Five-0", "Beverly Hills 90210", "Pacific Blue", "Wheel of Fortune", "Magnum, P.I.", and "Baywatch Hawaii"—has just joined with CBS to co-brand a series of special events, packages, and promotions that highlight the "Hawaii Five-0" partnership; and

WHEREAS, the HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE and its team members have given generously to the community by providing hot meals at shelters, food for the Hawaii Foodbank, and monetary donations to many worthwhile organizations and causes in the State; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2011, that this body hereby honors the HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE for its unwavering dedication, exemplary accomplishments, and the role that they continue to play in the community as they celebrate their 50th Anniversary, and extends its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
