HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

RECOGNIZING the abunai 95 boys soccer team.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, the spirit of athletic competition is essential to the physical, mental, and emotional growth of our youth, instilling the virtues of perseverance, fellowship, and good sportsmanship into the character of Hawaii's future leaders; and

 

     WHEREAS, the ABUNAI 95 BOYS SOCCER TEAM, based in Mililani, has embodied this spirit by demonstrating great heart and determination in all of their games, displaying outstanding skill and team effort, and living up to the name "abunai," which means "dangerous or look out" in Japanese; and

 

WHEREAS, due to the outstanding talents of team members:  Zachary Carvalho, Jarin Morikawa, Jensen Toner, Renato Torquato, Matthew Fronda, Micah Cabagbag, Tyler Matas, Cameron Metz, Kazuto Moribe, Leo Klink, Kouri Nago, Corey Nemeth, Guy Ahlo, Andrew Momohara, Ezra White, and Jake Sagami, the ABUNAI 95 BOYS SOCCER TEAM proved through hard work, determination, and dedication that they can achieve excellence as a team and as individuals; and

 

     WHEREAS, under the leadership and guidance of Head Coach Darrin Goo, Assistant Coaches Andrea Toner and Jon Morikawa, and Team Manager Julie Sagami, the ABUNAI 95 BOYS SOCCER TEAM brought great pride to Hawaii by rolling through the preliminary competition at the 2010 U.S. Club Soccer National Cup Championship held in Virginia Beach, Virginia before defeating Tap FC Barcelona by a score of 2-0 in the championship round to claim the Boys U-15 Premier Division Championship on August 2, 2010; now, therefore,

    

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2011, that this body hereby congratulates and recognizes the ABUNAI 95 BOYS SOCCER team for winning the U.S. Club Soccer National Cup Championship for the Boys U-15 Premier Division, and extends to them its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
