Status

RELATING TO THE TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.

PROPOSED HD1: Establishes a temporary minimum daily tax on each transient accommodation furnished at no charge. Temporarily increases the tax rate on resort time share vacation units to the same as the rate on other transient accommodations. Temporarily limits the transient accommodations tax revenue distribution to the counties to approximately the same amount distributed in fiscal year 2009-2010.

Status

RELATING TO INTOXICATING LIQUOR.

PROPOSED HD1: Increases liquor tax rates. Reduces the liquor tax rate on the first sixty thousand barrels produced in a small brewery or brewpub. Makes it lawful to provide a discount for liquor purchases through coupons or mail-in rebates when made in combination with other merchandise. Effective July 1, 2011.

Status

RELATING TO TAXATION.

PROPOSED HD1: Establishes a new markets tax credit for qualified equity investment on a credit allowance date and that is exempt from the requirements of section 704(b)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code; restricts community development entity investments to low-income communities in Hawaii; includes franchise taxes and insurance premium taxes eligible for the tax credit. Exempts federally tax exempt companies that supply potable water from the state income and general excise taxes.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

     The Committee the comments are directed to;

     The date and time of the hearing;

     Measure number; and

     The number of copies the Committee is requesting.
