A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

Relating to petroleum.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 486, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part II to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§486-     Price posting of taxes required.  The department shall adopt rules under chapter 91 to require any retail dispenser of gasoline or diesel to post on top or on the face panel of each gasoline pump and on any other pricing advertisement in conspicuous numbers, the breakdown of the amount of federal, state, and local taxes paid per gallon.  The amounts posted may include a cumulative total of all taxes paid per gallon, provided that individual amounts for federal, state, and local taxes are posted."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval; provided that the tax information posting requirement

established pursuant to this Act shall not be enforced until January 1, 2012.
