A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO NEPOTISM.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 84, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§84-     Nepotism.  No legislator or employee shall name, appoint, or hire to public office or employment any relative who is the legislator's or employee's spouse, parent, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepparent, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, or half sister."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
