A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO CONSTRUCTION OF LAWS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 1-18, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:

     "§1-18  "Or", "and".  Each of the terms "or" and "and"[, has the meaning of the other or of both.] shall be understood by their definition in any commonly used dictionary; provided that if the context requires, the term "or" may mean both "or" and "and"."

     SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
