RELATING TO TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.

Removes the current cap on transient accommodations tax revenues to be distributed to the counties and establishes the distribution of these revenues as a percentage of TAT collected.

RELATING TO THE TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.

Allocates $3,000,000 of the transient accommodations tax revenues to the special land and development fund, rather than the general fund, for the protection, improvement, and construction of natural resources and facilities associated with the visitor experience.

RELATING TO THE TAXATION OF DESTINATION CLUBS.

Establishes a tax on annual destination club dues apportioned to the State.  Requires destination club membership plan managers to register with the department of taxation and keep records of annual destination club dues apportioned to the State.

RELATING TO TOURISM STIMULUS INCENTIVES.

Provides qualified employers an income tax credit of 4.5 per cent of wages paid to qualified employees for a period after completion of hotel and resort construction or renovation.  Provides a general excise tax exemption for certain hotel and resort construction or renovation.

RELATING TO THE HAWAII TOURISM AUTHORITY.

Amends exemptions granted to the Hawaii tourism authority, under certain conditions, from the supervision of accounts by the comptroller, requirements for publication of consolidated financial statements, and approval of business and accounting forms.

Status

RELATING TO HAWAII TOURISM AUTHORITY.

Requires the Hawaii Tourism Authority to develop a brand management plan, which includes promoting tourism in the State with destination marketing and other organizations.  Allows the Hawaii Tourism Authority to withhold sensitive information from public disclosure if it may be harmful to business interests or necessary to protect Hawaii's competitive advantage as a visitor destination.  Requires the Hawaii Tourism Authority's annual report to include expenditures with descriptions and evaluations of programs funded, and recommendations.  Makes various clarifying and housekeeping amendments throughout chapter 201B, HRS.

RELATING TO TOURISM.

Requires the Hawaii Tourism Authority's tourism marketing plan to be a single, comprehensive document and requires the Hawaii Tourism Authority to report on the progress of its tourism marketing plan in its annual report.

Status

RELATING TO HOTEL CLASS LIQUOR LICENSES.

Amends the definition of "hotel" for purposes of qualification for a hotel class liquor license by deleting requirement that a hotel have a kitchen and dining room.
