     Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No. 1440, H.D. 1, entitled:

 

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO EDUCATION,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to appropriate funds to the Hawaii Keiki: Healthy and Ready to Learn program to build and enhance school-based health services, and to require matching funds by federal and private entities.  

 

     The Department of Education, the University of Hawaii, Department of Education Farrington-Kaiser-Kalani Complex Area, Department of Education Kapaa-Kauai-Waimea Complex Area, Department of Education Kailua-Kalaheo Complex Area, Department of Education Nanakuli-Waianae Complex Area, Department of Education Kau-Keaau-Pahoa Complex Area, Olomana School, Nanaikapono Elementary School, Project Vision Hawaii, Hawaii Pacific Health, and several individuals supported this measure.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 1440, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
