A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to education.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part II to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§302A-     Youth civil defense corps.  (a)  There is established within the department the youth civil defense corps, which shall train high school students to participate in the state emergency response team program.

     (b)  In consultation with the Hawaii emergency management agency, the board shall adopt standards and curriculum for high school students to participate in the youth civil defense corps in furtherance of their requirements for graduation."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
