A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO THE HIGH TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The high technology development corporation is a key state agency in developing and supporting an innovation industry in the State.  Last year the legislature extended the lapsing date of a previous appropriation and appropriated additional funding for the Hawaii small business innovation research program.  The legislature believes that continuing the program is important to supporting the innovation industry.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2017-2018 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2018-2019 for the purpose of continuing the Hawaii small business innovation research program; provided that the high technology development corporation shall plan on providing grants and loans for phase III awards where applicable.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the high technology development corporation for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.
