RELATING TO VETERANS.

Requires the Office of Veterans' Services in the Department of Defense to study the establishment and administration of a veterans conservation corps program to assist veterans in obtaining training, certification, and employment in the areas of environmental protection, restoration, and management.  Report to the 2018 Legislature.

RELATING TO EXEMPTIONS FROM REGISTRATION FEES.

Repeals requirement that a disabled veteran be in receipt of disability retirement pay in order to be exempt from the payment of annual vehicle registration fees.

RELATING TO THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE HAWAII STATE CAPITOL.

Appropriates funds to SFCA to fund celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Hawaii state capitol.  Appropriates funds.

RELATING TO THE WORLD WAR I CENTENNIAL COMMEMORATION.

Appropriates moneys for the commemoration of the centennial anniversary of World War I.

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony should indicate:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee(s) to which the comments are directed;

·     The date and time of the hearing; and

·     Measure number. 

 

While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

PAPER:  Fifteen copies (including an original) to Room 322 in the State Capitol;

FAX:       For testimony less than 5 pages in length, transmit to 808-586-6271 (Oahu) or 1-800-535-3859 (for Neighbor Islander without a computer to submit testimony through e-mail or the Web); or

WEB:     For testimony less than 10MB in size, transmit from http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/submittestimony.aspx.

 

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
