Sir:

 

     Your Committee on Judiciary, to which was referred H.C.R. No. 65 entitled:

 

"HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENTS OF HEALTH AND PUBLIC SAFETY TO EVALUATE THE APPROPRIATENESS OF RESCHEDULING CANNABIS AT THE STATE LEVEL FROM SCHEDULE I TO SCHEDULE III,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to request the departments of Health and Public Safety to evaluate the appropriateness of rescheduling cannabis at the state level from a schedule I to schedule III.

 

     The Hawaii Medical Association, and the Oahu County Committee on Legislative Priorities of the Democratic Party of Hawaii testified in support of this measure.  The Department of Public Safety, and one individual testified in opposition to this measure.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Judiciary that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.C.R. No. 65 and recommends its adoption.
