                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS CORPORATION EXEMPT POSITIONS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Section 323F-8, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is
 
 2 amended by amending subsection (c) to read as follows:
 
 3      "(c)  The corporation's chief executive officer or the chief
 
 4 executive officer's designee may appoint, exempt from chapters
 
 5 76, 77, and 89, hospital administrators, assistant
 
 6 administrators, human resource directors, directors of nursing,
 
 7 medical directors, and staff physicians, to facilitate the
 
 8 management of facilities within the corporation; provided that
 
 9 human resource directors appointed before July 1, 1998, may
 
10 retain their civil service status as provided in chapters 76 and
 
11 77, by so communicating in writing to the chief executive officer
 
12 by October 31, 1999, and directors of nursing appointed before
 
13 July 1, 1998, may retain their civil service status as provided
 
14 in chapters 76 and 77, by so communicating in writing to the
 
15 chief executive officer by October 31, 1998.  [Hospital
 
16 administrators and assistant administrators appointed before July
 
17 1, 1983, may maintain their permanent civil service status as
 
18 provided in chapters 76 and 77.]"
 
19      SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed.
