                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO NOXIOUS WEED CONTROL.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Section 152-4, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is
 
 2 amended to read as follows:
 
 3      "§152-4 Designation of noxious weed.  (a)  The department
 
 4 may designate certain plant species as noxious weeds following
 
 5 the criteria and procedures established under section 152-2(1).
 
 6      (b)  Notwithstanding subsection (a) or section 152-2(1) to
 
 7 the contrary, the following plant species shall be deemed noxious
 
 8 weeds for the purposes of this chapter:
 
 9      (1)  Fiddlewood (Citharexylum caudatum);
 
10      (2)  Khakiweed (Alternanthera pungens); and
 
11      (3)  Common Sandbur (Cenchrus echinatus).
 
12      (c)  The department shall publish and make available a list
 
13 of noxious weeds to interested persons."
 
14      SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.
 
15      SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
