Sir:

     Your Committee on Judiciary and Hawaiian Affairs, to which
was referred H.B. No. 1444 entitled: 

     "A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE DISPOSITION OF NOTARY
     RECORDS,"

begs leave to report as follows:

     The purpose of this bill is to return the care and
disposition of notary records to the Department of the Attorney
General.

     Testimony in support of this bill was received from the
State Attorney General and the Judiciary.

     Your Committee finds that the implementation of the
provisions of this bill will support the efficient administration
of notary commissions in the State.

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Judiciary and Hawaiian Affairs that is attached to
this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and
purpose of H.B. No. 1444 and recommends that it pass Second
