SB 1583  RELATING TO TECHNOLOGY             EDU/ECD/LRE, WAM
        Consolidates high tech agencies under a special
        advisor for 
technology development; creates tax
        credits for technology training or job creation and
        investment in technology business; establishes HI
        internet exchange; and establishes UH work force
        development training program.

SB 400   RELATING TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT       EDU/ECD, WAM
        Mandates integration of tourism marketing plans with
        existing and potential information and communication
        technology networks and services.  Creates a
        technology training or job creation tax credit.
        Establishes Hawaii Internet Exchange (HIE) in OTTED
        and includes the development of an internet exchange
        in state economic priority guidelines.  Includes in
        state planning priority guidelines for education, an
        increase in the availability of telecommunication
        equipment for the exchange of information and internet
        access.  Establishes an accelerated information
        technology education and training program within the

 
        UH.  Authorizes GO bonds to establish fiber optic
        connection to internet for UH and DOE.

SB 744   RELATING TO TAXATION                   ECD/EDU, WAM
        Exempts certain activities of call centers from
        taxation.

SB 747   RELATING TO TECHNOLOGY                 EDU/ECD, WAM
        Creates a special assistant for technology in
        Governor's Office, as focus for development of high
        tech industries and businesses in Hawaii.

SB 759   RELATING TO AQUACULTURE                ECD/EDU, WAM
        Provides funds for the development of an ornamental
        fish, plants, and other products industry in Hawaii.

SB 1323  RELATING TO THE HIGH TECHNOLOGY BUSINESS  ECD/EDU, WAM
        INVESTMENT TAX CREDIT
        Provides a new credit to encourage the investment in
        high technology companies.

SB 1468  RELATING TO AN OCEAN FLOATING,         ECD/EDU, WAM
        ALL-NATURAL CLEAN ENERGY POWER STATION
        Appropriates funds to study the feasibility of
        constructing and operating an ocean floating, all-
        natural clean energy power station.  Requires the
        University of Hawaii to submit a report of its
        findings and recommendations to the legislature prior
        to the 2001 regular session.

side of 10 copies and two (2) holes on the top of 40 copies of

1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24
hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please indicate to whom
the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the
hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.

interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior
to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
