HB 318      MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR            EDU, WAM
            ADDITIONAL SCHOOL CLERICAL POSITIONS
            Appropriates funds to the department of education
            for 292.00 FTE, temporary, school clerical
            positions to partially implement the
            recommendations of the 1990 school and district
            office clerical staffing study.  Requires the
            department to allocate these temporary positions
            according to pupil enrollment.

            Appropriates funds to extend the funding of the
            Learn and Serve Hawaii program.

HB 389      RELATING TO EDUCATION                  EDU, WAM
Proposed SD 1  Appropriates funds to extend the funding of the
            Learn and Serve Hawaii program.
            It is the intent of the Committee to add the
            substance of HB 403, HD 1, to this measure.  HB
            403, HD 1, provides a tax credit for the purchase

 
            of laptop computers for educational purposes.
            Copies of HB 389, proposed SD 1, are available in
            Rooms 215 and 207.

hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please indicate to whom
the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the
hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services
to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior
to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the
measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for
shared use by members of the public.
