SB 155     RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES                    TIA, JDC
SD1        Requires all motor vehicle licenses issued after
        December 31, 1999, to specifically exclude any
        reference to the licensee's social security number.  A
        new system of assigning unique identification numbers
        to motor vehicle licenses will be implemented. 

SB 1164    RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVER LICENSING    TIA, JDC
        Authorizes the Director of Transportation to enter
        into driver's license reciprocity agreements with
        foreign jurisdictions.

SB 1186    RELATING TO PROPERTY DAMAGE                   TIA, JDC
SD1        Persons under age 21 convicted of the act of graffiti
        and who do not have a drivers license shall not be
        allowed to obtain one for at least one year or until
        age 21, whichever is greater.  If a person under 21
        already has a license, the license will be suspended
        for one year or until age 21, whichever is greater.

SB 162     RELATING TO CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY            TIA, JDC
SD1        Requires child under four years old instead of under
        three years old to be properly restrained in child
        passenger seat.

SB 685     RELATING TO REGISTRATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES    TIA, JDC
        UNDER TWO OR MORE NAMES

 
 
 
        Repeals the requirement that a specific form be
        provided by the director of finance when registering a
        vehicle under two names that is not held in joint
        tenancy.

SB 1212    RELATING TO USE OF INTOXICANTS                TIA, JDC
SD1        Amends driving impaired statutes to consolidate and
        conform offenses relating to operating a vehicle while
        using an intoxicant.  Makes conforming amendments.

SB 660     RELATING TO DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE       TIA, JDC
        OF INTOXICATING LIQUOR
        Imposes a mandatory minimum consecutive jail sentence
        of 48 hours and not more than 30-days and a mandatory
        fine of $500 upon any person convicted for DUI who
        operated or assumed actual physical control of a
        vehicle with a passenger, in or on the vehicle, who
        was less than 18 years of age.

SB 674     RELATING TO POLICE ROADBLOCK PROGRAMS         TIA, JDC
SD1        Provides that failure to comply scrupulously with
        police procedures that exceed the minimum statutory
        roadblock requirements will not invalidate a roadblock
        that otherwise meets the minimum statutory criteria.

testimony to the committee clerk, Room 227, State Capitol, 24
hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less
than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at
586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at
least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please
indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and
time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for
submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services
to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior
to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the
measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for
