                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO MEAL BREAKS.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Section 378-10, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is
 
 2 amended to read as follows:
 
 3      "[[]378-10[]]  Breastfeeding.  No employer shall prohibit
 
 4 an employee from expressing breastmilk during any meal period or
 
 5 other break period required by law to be provided by the employer
 
 6 or required by collective bargaining agreement.  For any such
 
 7 employee required to work for a period of more than five
 
 8 continuous hours, the employer shall provide an unpaid meal break
 
 9 of not less than thirty minutes."
 
10      SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed.
 
11 New statutory material is underscored.
 
12      SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
