of ceded land revenues obtained from the Honolulu International

                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO CEDED LAND REVENUES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Chapter 10, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended
 
 2 by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to
 
 3 read as follows:
 
 4      "�10-     Pro rata equivalent to ceded land revenues
 
 5 obtained from revenues generated at the Honolulu International
 
 6 Airport and due to the office of Hawaiian affairs.  (a)
 
 7 Beginning with fiscal year 1999-2000, the State shall pay at the
 
 8 beginning of each succeeding fiscal year an amount equal to the
 
 9 pro rata share of ceded land revenues derived from the Honolulu
 
10 International Airport to the office of Hawaiian affairs.
 
11      (b)  The State may utilize the general revenues of the State
 
12 or general obligation bonds, whichever is authorized by the
 
13 legislature, to pay the amount owed under subsection (a) to the
 
14 office of Hawaiian affairs."
 
15      SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general
 
16 revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much
 
17 thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2000-2001 to be
 
18 transferred to and expended by the office of Hawaiian affairs for

 1 the purposes of section 1 of this Act.
 
 2      SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.
 
 3      SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval;
 
 4 provided that section 2 shall take effect on July 1, 2000.
