Honorable Calvin K.Y. Say
Speaker, House of Representatives
Twentieth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2000
State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Consumer Protection and Commerce, to which
was referred S.B. No. 3129, H.D. 1, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO HAWAIIAN HEALING PRACTICES,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to extend the sunset date
from July 1, 2000, to July 1, 2002, for the exemption from
medical licensure for Hawaiian healing practices. This measure
also extends the submission date of the final report by the panel
to twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of
2002.

The Board of Medical Examiners commented on the bill.

Technical, nonsubstantive amendments were made for clarity
and consistency.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Consumer Protection and Commerce that is attached to
this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and
purpose of S.B. No. 3129, H.D. 1, as amended herein, and
recommends that it pass Third Reading in the form attached hereto
as S.B. No. 3129, H.D. 2.
