        NOTICE OF ISSUES BRIEFING ON HUMAN SERVICES

           DATE:      Friday, February 25, 2000
           TIME:      7:00 pm -- 9:00 pm

                      Kahulu'i, Maui


                        A G E N D A

 The purpose of this briefing is to allow interested agencies,
organizations and individuals to briefly highlight major
legislative issues of concern to the Maui Island community in the
human services and health areas.

  Among the issues now being addressed by the Legislature that
may be of concern at this meeting are:

      WELFARE REFORM

      HEALTH CARE FOR THE UNDER-SERVED 
      (LOW INCOME FAMILIES, DISABLED AND IMMIGRANT RESIDENTS)

     CHILD CARE/EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

     SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH SERVICES

     CHILD AND ELDERLY ABUSE AND NEGLECT

      YOUTH SERVICES, 

 
      OTHER HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES CONCERNS

 Those wishing to testify are requested to provide written
testimony of any length and to limit oral testimony to less than
five minutes.   

                    INFORMATIONAL ONLY

  Persons wishing to testify are requested to submit 25 copies
of their testimony 24 hours prior to the briefing to the
Committee's Vice Chair in Room 328, State Capitol.  Testimony may
be faxed to the House Sgt.-at-Arms Office at 586-6501 (O'ahu) or
1-800-535-3859 (Neighbor Islands).  When faxing, please indicate
to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of
the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for
submittal.

 For further information, please call the Committee Clerk at 
586-6050.  If you require special assistance or auxillary aids
and/or services to participate in the public hearing process of
the State House (i.e., sign language interpreter, wheelchair
accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled), please
contact the Committee Clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so that
arrangements can be made.
