Testimony for the following two bills will be taken together:

SB 2065    RELATING TO ABUSE OF FAMILY OR HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS   JDC
        Creates three new classes of offenses for abuse of
        family or household members; authorizes police to
        order person to leave premises if officer has
        reasonable grounds to believe infliction of abuse is
        imminent; repeals current law on abuse of family or
        household members, section 709-906, HRS.

SB 2153    RELATING TO ABUSE OF FAMILY OR HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS   JDC
        Creates 3 classifications of offense of abuse of
        family or household member:  class C felony,
        misdemeanor, and petty misdemeanor.

Testimony for the following two bills will be taken together:

SB 2066    RELATING TO DOMESTIC ABUSE PROTECTIVE ORDERS       JDC
        Amends definition of "family or household members" to
        include persons in dating relationships; defines
        "dating relationships"; extends effective time of TROs
        to 180 days; requires courts to issue protective
        orders for minimum period of 5 years; authorizes
        longer extension period for protective orders.

SB 2154    RELATING TO PROTECTIVE ORDERS                      JDC
        Includes "dating relationship" within domestic abuse
        protective orders.  Provides for extended protective
        orders for 10-year period.  Makes penalties for
        violation of protective orders consistent with those
        for violation of temporary restraining orders.

 
        Requires full faith and credit be given to foreign
        protective orders.

Testimony for the following two bills will be taken together:

SB 2070    RELATING TO FIREARMS                               JDC
        Repeals good cause exemption for possession of
        firearms by a person who is the subject of a
        restraining order. 

SB 2155    RELATING TO FIREARMS                               JDC
        Clarifies that the prohibition on persons subject to a
        restraining order from possessing or controlling
        firearms applies to orders under sections 580-10(d)
        and 604-10.5, as well as under chapter 586, HRS.

Regular Agenda

SB 2081    RELATING TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE                 JDC, WAM
        Provides an income tax credit for donations made to
        domestic violence programs.

SB 2082    RELATING TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE                 JDC, WAM
        Appropriates funds to family court to establish a
        dedicated domestic violence court and to provide
        related services.

SB 2026    RELATING TO DOMESTIC ABUSE PROTECTIVE ORDERS       JDC
        Requires evidence of at least one documented incident
        of domestic abuse to issue protective order; makes
        penal offense of false reporting of domestic abuse
        incident.

SB 2069    RELATING TO PROBATION                              JDC
        Authorizes probation officers to inform domestic
        violence victims, their parents, or immediate family
        when defendant violates probation or when probation
        officers have information relating to victim's safety
        and welfare.

SB 3024    RELATING TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE                      JDC
        Clarifies the family or household member abuse law
        regarding repeat offenders and eliminates a loophole
        for felony level offenders.

their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 227, State Capitol,
24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if
less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms

please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the
date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies
needed for submittal.

interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
