TWENTY-FIRST LEGISLATURE, 2001

S.D. 1

STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to the public land trust.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. During the 2000 legislative session, the legislature passed Act 125, the purpose of which was to facilitate the establishment of a comprehensive information system for inventorying and maintaining information about the lands of the public land trust described in section 5(f) of the Admission Act and article XII, section 4, of the State Constitution. In accordance with section 5(a) of Act 125, the auditor is to report to the legislature the system's progress towards completion as well as any legislation the auditor deems necessary to facilitate the expeditious completion of the inventories and system. Thus far, the auditor has determined that a greater amount of funding than previously calculated is necessary. This Act therefore appropriates such funds to complete the public land trust information system.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $1, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, to be expended by the auditor for the purposes of Act 125, Session Laws of Hawaii 2000; provided that no funds appropriated shall be expended unless separately matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis and paid to the auditor by the office of Hawaiian affairs.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
